Improving the quality of life of every patient.

Christine Jensen, MS, RD, CDE

I initially became interested in nutrition during college as a way to improve my athletic performance while running track and cross country at Western Illinois University. At the time I didnít consider nutrition as a possible career path. I graduated from Western Illinois in 1983 with a B.S. in Medical Technology and worked in the laboratory at Community Hospital in Munster, IN for a few years.

I married my high school sweetheart, Rob, and he encouraged me to return to school and pursue nutrition. I earned a Master of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition from Purdue University in 1988 and became a registered dietitian in 1989.

I taught nutrition classes at Purdue University-Calumet including developing a sports nutrition class. I was employed by the Hammond Clinic for many years doing medical nutrition therapy and teaching a variety of classes. It was at the Clinic that I became interested in all aspects of diabetes care and decided to become a certified diabetes educator (CDE). This goal was realized in October of 2000. I worked briefly for an insulin pump company and am now a certified pump trainer for 3 different insulin pumps.

I joined Dr. Muhrez and the staff of NW Endocrinology & Diabetes in 2006.
